back.

so, i have been suffering from a combination of working too much and having broken internets. so sorry for the lack of updates, but i'll try to catch everyone up.

A few weeks ago, I went back to st. Louis for a visit and to finish up some business with my condo. It was supposed to sell, and it didn't. which hit me financially below the belt. but whatever. nothing i can do about it i guess.

so, the trip was good. I stayed with the Kopitskes and got to see many friends and managed to eat a record amount of ted drewes. i was afraid going back was going to be really hard, but it really didn't feel like home anymore. i felt the same way in St. Louis as i do and have done in Grand Rapids for the past 10 years. Maybe that's because i have nothing there.

so, i started a second job to complement my first one. I work in retail for a company that i frequently shopped at and like the products of. Mostly, i get a discount and a joke of a paycheck. But i also buy into a stock plan and 401K matching. which is something-- since job one doens't let me enroll in to the retirement plan for another few months.

things in DC are good, I am looking forward to the 4th and the fireworks on the mall-- however, I am rather upset that I will have to miss Bryan's 4th of july party. Sounds like it's going to be a blast! everyone is going to be there, except me, i guess.

the lease on my sublet ends with this month, so i have been apartment shopping. the one i am seeing is way too much. but i love the neighborhood. and well, it is more expensive to live here. I will make a decision when i have to, i guess. there is also a cheap place in a neighborhood i don't like as much. so, we'll see.

so yeah. nothing earth shattering. but life is good.

i will hopefully have a longer post later this weekend-- maybe with fireworks pictures.
